Crockpot is good for chicken soup.

I did have a crockpot once and used it for slow cooking some cuts of meat. I do not favor using a crockpot to cook chicken in because in my opinion chicken does not need slow cooking. I usually ignore crockpot chicken recipes. However, I make an exception when it comes to making chicken soup with odds and ends of chicken that I had not used for making chicken curry. It is very convenient to throw in the chicken pieces, vegetables like beans, carrot and potato along with whole shallots, a few pieces of garlic, a stick of cinnamon, a few cloves, star anise, salt and pepper and let all this simmer in a lot of water. If I set up the crockpot with this concoction before I go to bed, I will be greeted next morning with the wonderful aroma of the stock which I can serve up as soup or use to cook rice in. I have given up on this practice now that I do not own a crockpot anymore.
