Three Areas Concerning Medical Assistant Duties

Medical assistants can be assigned into different areas. Inside the hospitals, there are three areas available where medical assistant duties can differ and these areas are the front office, administrative office and the clinical area. Those front office medical assistants are in charged with handling external and internal phone calls and transferring calls to appropriate departments, taking care of patients’ appointments and giving registration forms to patients for acquiring all necessary information. Administrative medical assistants on the other hand, is focused on the administrative tasks such as filling and keeping records, dealing with patients and insurance companies and explaining hospital admission. While clinical medical assistants are mostly getting blood samples, working in medical labs, keeping health records of patients, and collecting other samples such as urine and submit for diagnosis.
