Paris hotels: Montmatre by Velib
September 2nd, 2010 by admin
The introduction of the ‘Velib’ to Paris’ streets three years ago opened up new possibilities for tourists visiting the French capital. This incredibly popular cycle hire scheme – since reproduced in London – enables tourists to explore Paris’ Grands Boulevards and the narrow alleys of the Quartier Latin and Montmatre without having to pay for a taxi or take the metro. By travelling above ground, it’s possible to really get to know Paris, and because entire lanes have been set aside for cyclists, there’s not the jostling for space with cars and buses cyclists in London have to put up with. A portmanteau of ‘velo’ and ‘liberte’, the velib is one more reason to visit Paris hotels.
